Our key enquiry questions

In each of the five lessons, we will focus on a particular enquiry question related to human rights. Using the resources provided on this blog, you and your classmates will investigate these questions.

Here are our enquiry questions:

  • Lesson 1: What are human rights and what human rights do children have?
  • Lesson 2 and 3: Why do we have human rights? Where did human rights come from?
  • Lesson 4: What responsibilities are associated with our rights?
  • Lesson 5: How can we promote rights and responsibilities in our school?

What are we going to learn?

W.A.L.T

  • We are learning about human rights and how to define human rights
  • We are learning about the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) and the Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC)
  • We are learning about groups whose human rights are not always respected
  • We are learning that each right has a responsibility that goes with it
  • We are learning about how we can let everyone in our school know about human rights and responsibilities

Welcome to our human rights blog

Welcome to our blog. Over the next month we are going to investigate human rights, in particular, the rights of children just like us. We will also look at how we can promote human rights and their corresponding responsibilities in our school. Our work will culminate in a whole-school Human Rights Day which will be held on December 10th 2013, which is international Human Rights Day.

Here is some information on Human Rights Day  that you might find interesting.
